Thursday 8 March – Tag Rugby Tournament – Littledown Centre
On the 8 March 2018 St Michael’s entered a team in the School Games Tag Rugby Competition at the Littledown Centre. 19 schools took part – our team played 10 games!
We left the competition winning the ‘Fair Play’ award, which was an amazing achievement as the team had only started playing Tag Rugby 6 weeks prior.
The teams were assessed on their behaviour on and off the field of play according to the Fair Play Charter – they were judged on the following:
- Good sport, endeavour & showing enjoyment of competing
- Fair treatment of others
- Acceptance of victory and defeat
- Respect of officials & acceptance of their decisions from players, coaches and supporters
- Calm and controlled temper
- Appreciation & recognition of good play in opposing team as your own and encouragement, not criticism of all players
- Acknowledging & thanking officials & opposing players. Playing by the rules
- Using correct and proper language
Well done Team!

Thursday 16 November – Cross Country Event II – Sir David English Centre
Due to popular demand, two teams of boys and girls represented St Michael’s at the latest cross country event (24 children in total). It was a chilly late afternoon at the Sir David English Centre, with around 120 boys and 120 girls represented from school all over Bournemouth. The girls ran first for two muddy laps around the field; the boys followed suit soon after. All of the children put 100%, effort into the race, encouraged along by some cheering parents.
A few stand-out performances were Sophie who came 24th, Ava who came 27th and Elodie who came 34th; for the boys, Bobby came 12th and Jago managed 34th on his first run. Well done to all the boys and girls who, as ever, represented the school with the highest standards of behaviour and sportsmanship.
