We offer a hot meals service every day. Children have a choice of a meat/fish main course or a vegetarian main course. Alternatively a jacket potato or salad option is available each day. They also receive a pudding, fruit or yogurt and fresh water or fruit flavoured squash to drink. The menus are available online through the ‘Dorset Meal Selector’ link below. Orders and payments are made at least a week in advance of the Monday morning (orders must be made by 12pm on the Sunday evening of the week before). A calm ‘cafeteria’ style atmosphere is encouraged in the hall which becomes a dining room. The children come in at staggered intervals and may sit where they wish, even with friends who bring packed lunch. Whilst we try to persuade children to eat their meal no one is forced to eat everything. There is no time limit within which children must eat their meal. Children who are taking a hot lunch collect an appropriate coloured band from either their class teacher, for key stage one children, or from the band monitors for key stage two children. They then go to the counter to collect their lunch.
Pupils who do not order a hot meal will need to bring a healthy packed lunch. Sweets, nuts (including chocolate spreads) and fizzy drinks are not allowed in school.
The children are well supervised at lunchtime.
If a parent wishes for a child to go home for lunch, we will expect to be notified in advance by letter. This is to ensure the safety of the child. Otherwise no child will be allowed to leave the premises.
