Bournemouth Borough Council is running a targeted campaign which aims to improve standards in the West Hill area.
Their primary objectives are:
- to improve the quality of private rented accommodation in the area
- to work with the community to reduce anti-social behaviour and environmental crime
They are trying to promote the project so that residents in the area are aware that they can contact their service if there are problems with their property and they need help with getting their landlord to fix it.
They are also working in partnership with Citizens Advice Bournemouth to provide further support for residents in the area with issues other than housing such as harassment, hate crime, claiming benefits etc. Citizens Advice will be running a drop in on the first Friday of every month at the Town Hall from 9.45 – 3.30 specifically for West Hill residents.
Later in the year they are hoping to announce some initiatives to clear the litter and fly tipping in the area.
Improving the standards of private rented housing in the area is particularly relevant to making sure properties are safe and appropriate for children.
