Dear Parents and Carers
It is time for me to say goodbye. Thank you to everyone for your good wishes and kind words. I leave feeling very lucky to have been part of such a vibrant and energetic community and I have loved my time as Head Teacher of St Michael’s CE Primary School. The School Governors have found you an excellent new Head Teacher in Mr Evans, who will be as committed to educating your children as I have been and who is fortunate enough to have the backing of two extremely able Deputy Head Teachers in Mr Fry and Mr Wills. To help you prepare yourselves and your children for a full return to school in September, Mr Fry has written a very helpful ‘Welcome Back’ guide, which is available on this website. There are some changes to be aware of, such as arrival and pick-up times and which gates to use, so it is worth taking the time to read it.
The thing I will miss the most about our school is your willingness to have a growth mind-set and to strive to be the best you can be. Your attitude to learning is inspiring!
When you come back to school in September, some of you will not have been in school for more than 5 months and some things will be different. However, do not worry. Many things will also be the same. All the adults in school cannot wait to see you again and are ready to help you settle back in. You will have the chance to catch up with your friends, to settle into routines and enjoy learning with your teacher and teaching assistant. The adults in school are very excited about having all the children back in September and cannot wait to see you again.
To our Year 6 leavers, I wish you continued success in your new school. I have every confidence in your ability to cope with the exciting new beginning that awaits you. You have been amazing throughout your time at St Michael’s and I am sure you will go from strength to strength in your new school.
Enjoy your summer holidays. Remember Mr Fry’s advice: rest, read and run (around). Have fun! Be helpful, kind and thoughtful of others so that everyone in your family can enjoy the time together. When you come back in September, do not forget – tuck your shirt in!
Goodbye and God bless.
