Our school is taking part in this year’s Living Streets’ Walk to School Week.
What are the benefits of walking to school?
Walking to school helps children feel happier and healthier and even do better in class because they arrive refreshed, fit and ready to learn. More families walking means fewer cars on the road during the school run, helping to reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates.
What if we can’t walk to school?
If you live too far away or don’t have time to walk the whole way to school, you can Park and Stride. Park or hop off public transport at least ten minutes away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Each child will be given a diary to record their activity for the week and there will be:
- Daily wallchart stickers for pupils who walk to school and five wallchart stickers.
- Daily pupil reward stickers for KS1 pupils with an extra special sticker to mark the end of the challenge.
- Limited edition pin badges for KS2 pupils who have walked each day across the week.
